Supervising Advanced Practice Nurse - Orthopaedics

Description: University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey is currently interviewing Supervising Advanced Practice Nurse - Orthopaedics right now, this position will be placed in New Jersey. Qualifications: A current Registered/Professional Nurse license and registration in the S! tate of New Jersey is required. Completion of an educational program which is designed and conducted to prepare graduates to practice as an NP/APN with a Master's Degree in Nursing and eligible for certification by a national certifying body. Demonstration of publication in peer reviewed journals with designation as a Principal Investigator in an area of specialization highly desirable. Experience in orthopaedic practice preferred. Evidence of excellent interpersonal skills, effective communication skills, and creative problem solving are essential. Solid computer skills essential. A minimum of two (2) years experience of clinical nursing experience and current BLS certification are required. Participation in pertinent professional and/or specialty organizations preferred.

Credential Required: Current NJ License and Registration; Certified as an Advanced Practice Nurse, by the Board of Nursing; BLS Certification

Responsibilities: The primary ! purpose of the Supervising Advanced Practice Nurse (SAPN) posi! tion is to be a skilled health care provider who has a written collaborative practice agreement with the Physicians in the Orthopaedic Clinic and is credentialed through the Medical Staff Office. The SAPN collaborates with the Practice Managers and Physicians regarding Standards of Care for the Orthopaedic Practice and mentors/supervises staff and students regarding management of orthopaedic patients through evidence based practice. Through the performance of comprehensive health assessments, differential diagnosis and the prescribing of pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments, the SAPN addresses the behavioral aspects of illness and disease. SAPN practice promotes wellness through conducting research, providing education and impacting public policy and works autonomously as well as in orthopaedic teams as a resource and consultant. The SAPN is self directed and purposeful in seeking the necessary knowledge and skills to develop and maintain competency. The SAPN: exe! mplifies patient centered care principles in interaction with staff, patients and hospital personnel; convenes frequently with the orthopaedic team to discuss expectations, patient management and other services related functions and needs; displays professionalism through affording the appropriate time needed to complete duties associated with the position.
