Lactation Consultant

Provides weekend lactation consultation service to all parturient patients through telephone contact, and direct visitation on the MNCC.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Educates staff regarding current breastfeeding practices, as needed. Provides infant care class to post partum families each weekend day.
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Associates’s Degree in Nursing. Certificate and/or Advanced Specialized or Technical Training in Lactation.
MINIMUM YEARS OF EXPERIENCE (AMOUNT AND TYPE) REQUIRED
One year teaching experience preferred.
REQUIRED LICENSE, REGISTRY OR CERTIFICATION
Current RN license in New Jersey and Certification as Lactation Consultant required.
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND/OR ABILITIES REQUIRED
Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated skill in implementing the nursing process.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND/OR ABILITY
Experience in designing and implementing curricula helpful.
