The Medical Assistant is responsible for providing patient care and support within the ambulatory setting.
The Medical Assistant accurately comple! tes patient interviews, collects appropriate specimens, assists the physician with patient exams, maintains departmental inventory, and ensures quality direct patient care and non-professional services as directed by the Registered Nurse. This position is also responsible for performing the following as required by position: phlebotomy for diagnostic studies, CLIA waived testing. This position may also complete EKG’s and drug and alcohol testing.
This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to team work and cooperation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Graduate of a Medical Assistant program required.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Certification in Phlebotomy ASCP preferred. Registration and certification as a Medical Assistant required. BLSHCP certified within six months of ! hire or transfer.
EXPERIENCE: 1-3 years of pri! or experience in Ambulatory care preferred. Must be able to handle high volume of interactions with frequent interruptions. Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.
