Assumes responsibility for providing patient care in accordance with standards of professi! onal nursing care.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Utilizes ED and triage skills to identify patient problems, to implement plan of care and execute appropriate nursing interventions. Communicates with physicians and other members of the health care team to foster a collaborative practice environment. Adheres to the patient/family centered care model. Uses an understanding of principles of growth and development to assess each patient’s age-specific needs and provides age-specific treatment and care. Is supportive of shared governance.
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required. If associates degree or diploma in Nursing is held, must be enrolled in BSN program within one year of hire and completed within 5 years of hire.
MINIMUM YEARS OF EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Minimum of 1 year medical/surgical experience required or previous Emergency nursing experience.
REQUIRED LICENSE, REGISTRY OR CERT! IFICATION
Current New Jersey RN licensure. CPR certif! ication and ACLS certification is preferred. If not certified, certification must be obtained within six months of hire. Courses will be provided by Hunterdon Medical Center . IV certified or must obtain certification during staff development orientation.
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND/OR ABILITIES REQUIRED
Flexibility to deal with all age levels. Good communication skills. Ability to use cardiac monitors, defibrillation, pacemaker, pulse oximetry, and automatic BP monitors. Ability to assist respiratory therapy with mechanical ventilation.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND/OR ABILITY
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Shows initiative and possesses good problem solving skills.
