The Nursing Unit Secretary assists the professional nursing staff by performing a variety of tasks relating to direct and indirect patient care. The NUS is resp! onsible for performing routine administrative responsibilities, communication functions and acts as a receptionist to support the Nursing Unit. The NUS will maintain a clean and well organized work environment. The individual must be proficient with computer skills, possess exceptional interpersonal skills and demonstrate functional competencies. The individual must support the mission, vision, and values of JFK Medical Center and the Department of Nursing.
1-2 years prior experience as a secretary in an acute care setting is preferred. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite preferred High School Diploma or equivalent GED. Computer proficiency
Requires in-house training for hospital based transcription course - includes basic skills of medical terminology and transcription of physician orders. Must possess effective communication skills and demonstrate professional behavior consistent with our JFK Values.
