The Department of the Navy (DON) is more than ships, aircraft, and sailors; it is over 181,000 civilian employees at Navy and Marine Corps commands, bases, stations and facilities throughout the U.S. and around the world.

It requires a highly trained, educated and skilled workforce to support today's sophisticated Navy and Marine Corps ships, aircraft, weapon systems and computer systems. Over 41,000 acquisition professionals perform "cradle to grave" management of highly technical systems, equipment, facilities, supplies and services.

Individuals will be placed in the Naval Acquisition Development Program (NADP). The NADP is a structured management-! training program including formal education, diverse rotationa! l assignments, extensive on-the-job training, and graduate tuition assistance that is tailored to various acquisition career fields for up to three years. These positions are located throughout the U.S.; however a majority are located within the greater Washington D.C. metropolitan area, CA, WA, MD, VA, PA, NJ, RI and FL.

THIS IS AN EXPEDITED HIRING AUTHORITY ANNOUNCEMENT. The Duncan Hunter National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) FY 2009 provides that the Secretary of Defense can designate acquisition positions as shortage positions and recruit and appoint highly qualified persons to these positions. This announcement is open to accept resumes from candidates interested in helping the Department of the Navy meet our mission requirements for the acquisition of systems, equipment and facilities .

KEY REQUIREMENTS

You must be a US Citizen.
Must be registered for Selective Service, see Legal & Regulatory Guidance.
Suitable for Federal employ! ment as determined by background investigation.
Selectee may be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
If selected you will be required to sign a mobility agreement. DUTIES:

Formulating the design of aircraft and launch and recovery systems to support initiatives.

Implementing risk management strategies for software/system assurance programs.

Evaluating emerging Information Assurance (IA) developments to ensure plans and proposals reflect laboratories and support of Support Equipment (SE), Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipment (ALRE) laboratories, or Programs of Records (PORS).

Coordinating Cross Domain Solutions (CDS) installation and Independent, Verification and Validation (IV&V) during the Security, Test and Evaluation (ST&E) events.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Basic Requirement for Computer Scientist (1550)

A bachelor's degree in computer science OR a bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours included a combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus.

Minimum Qualifications: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular kno! wledge, skills, and abilities, to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1.) Providing direction and guidance to team members regarding Information Assurance (IA); 2.) Developing budgetary documentation to support IA initiatives; and 3.) Evaluating IA processes to ensure accreditation of systems. REQUIREMENTS:

A! 40 hour work week is typical for this position.

Position may ! require 1-5 nights of travel per month.

This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) and requires additional education, training and experience. Applicants should meet the DAWIA certification requirements for the applicable career field and be certified at Level 1 within 12 months of appointment and Level 2 within 24-36 months of appointment.
