Description

The occupational health nurse's (OHN) practice focuses on promotion and restoration of health, prevention of illness and injury and protection from work related, non-work related, and environmental hazards. The OHN provides professional nursing care for the comfort and well being of employees.

Occupational Health Nurse to provide independent direct acute nursing care for occupational and non occupational illness and injury based on nursing assessments.

Competent in emergency response. Able to evaluate clinical signs and symptoms, interpret results of tests and observations, behavior manifestations affecting work performance and determine appropriate health care treatment.

Conducts veni-punctures, collects specimens for laboratory tests, performs EKG's, and proficient with otoscope evaluations.

Prepare and maintain clinical records that meet legal, OSHA and departmental requirements while assuring confidentiality.

Delivers primary, secondary and tertiary preventive health programs, integrating chronic condition management.

Possess outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated excellence in addressing customer concerns and problem resolution.

Responsibilities include operational activities such as office management, budget, policy development, and continuous quality improvement. Works with the employee, the business unit and HR to assist the employee in staying on the job, conducting ergonomic, personal, and other health or safety consultations.

Qualifications

Must be a current Registered Nurse licensed to practice in the state of employment.

Knowledge of Case Management, FMLA, ADA, Workers' Compensation required.

Incumbent works independently or with limited supervision, while competent in setting work priorities, workday schedules and use of resources.

CPR/AED certification required

Computer literate and competent in Microsoft Office.

Fluent in Japanese desirable.

Accountable for nursing care as defined by the NJ State Nurse Practice Act.
