UCHC Staff Nurse (Part Time, NJSP)

Description: University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey is currently seeking to employ UCHC Staff Nurse (Part Time, NJSP) right now, this position will be placed in New Jersey. More complete informations about this position opportunity please give attention to these descriptions. Location: New Jersey State Prison in Trenton. Status: Part time less than 20 hours (.3). Requires three (3) shifts every two (2) weeks.
Qualifications:
Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing with a license to practice in the State of New Jersey. Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) or its equivalent preferred. Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a correctional setting preferred. CPR Certification required. Computer literacy. Valid Driver’s License is required. Must possess own vehicle.
Must be approved by the Department of Corrections (DOC) and adhere to all DOC requirements. Employees will be subject to and must comply with all security regulations and procedures of the NJ Department of Corrections and the assigned facility(ies) including, but not limited to sign in logs or electronic time clocks, searches of person and property, etc. Violations of NJ Department of Corrections and/or being banned by the NJ Department of Corrections to work at a NJ Department of Corrections' facility are grounds for a disciplinary action and potential termination.
Responsibilities:
Utilizes the nursing process to meet a variety of health care needs with ambulatory care as a primary focus. Works with a variety of health care professionals and security officers in a correctional environment. Frequently functions guided by nursing protocols. Functions as a team leader as assigned. Demonstrates competency in assessment and identification of the physical health adults (18 to 64) and geriatrics (65+), and their personal strengths. Identifies inmate-centered goals and nursing objectives and implements prescribed interventions and solutions for the identified problems.
