The Camden Coalition of Healthcare Providers is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization with the! mission to "...improve the quality, capacity, coordination, and accessibility of the healthcare system for all Camden residents" through community and clinical practice based programming, outreach, health provider education, capacity building of primary care practices, data collection and evaluation, building collaboration among key stakeholders, as well as policy development and advocacy. We are a staff of over 40 individuals, representing an array of backgrounds and disciplines, including social workers, nurses, program staff, researchers, and administrative support staff, with an annual budget of approximately $4.5 million. JOB DESCRIPTION
The Coalition is currently seeking a Staff Accountant to ensure that all funds are managed in accordance with general accounting principles and the objectives of our funding sources. This position requires a hands-on, analytical, detail-oriented, self-motivated in! dividual. The Coalition is currently run as a department under! Cooper University Hospital, with approximately 15 grants written to the Cooper Foundation on behalf of the Coalition; therefore, it is imperative that the Staff Accountant be well organized with high aptitude in communication and prioritization. This position works closely with the Accounting/HR Manager, Accounting Assistant, an outside Controller, and financial staff at Cooper University Hospital to ensure payments are processed and tracked timely and accurately, and to establish and track the budgets and reports for grant programs. This position assists in Human Resources processes and communications with Grants Management and Payroll departments at Cooper University Hospital. This position will report directly to the Accounting/HR Manager and will be an employee of Cooper University Hospital.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Specific responsibilities of this position include:
Ensures the accuracy of all general accounting functions such as employ! ee requisitions, cash disbursements, and invoices processed by the Accounting Assistant and is responsible for posting these transactions
Handles accounting-related functions such as maintaining vendor relations and overseeing a vendor filing system
Collaborates with Accounts Payable, Payroll, and other Cooper Hospital departments as needed for identification of charges and resolution of errors
Reads all grant documents as they are awarded and becomes familiar with grant budgets and objectives
Maintains schedule of grant reporting and prepares financial reporting documents for funders on a quarterly, semi-annual, and annual basis, as required by the terms of the grant
Oversees the monthly cash reconciliation process
Creates invoices and purchase orders and is responsible for receivables processes
Assists in Human Resources processes, such as creating new positions, processing staff development, and monitoring ev! aluation process
Performs any other duties, as necessary
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree (B.S. or B.A.) in Accounting required
Relevant accounting experience required
Experience with non-profit or grant administration strongly preferred
Highly proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
Strong communication skills, both written and oral
Discretion and judgment to organize priorities, complete tasks, and handle confidential information
Excellent attention to detail, strong project management skills, and ability to meet deadlines
Ability to manage multiple complex tasks
Ability to prioritize work at hand
Proven problem-solving skills
Flexibility in approach and willingness to adapt when necessary
Proactive and action-oriented personality; strong sense of pace and urgency
Ability and experience working productively and proactively, both independently and as a part of a team
