The Cook is responsible for preparing food in accordance
with current applicable federal, state and local
standards, guidelines and regulations, with our
established policies and procedure! s, and as may be
directed by the Head Cook and/or Director of Food
Services, to assure that quality food service is
provided at all times.
Reporting to:
- Directly reporting to the Director of Food and
Supervising:
- Supervising dietary staff as assigned.
- Review menus prior to preparation of food.
- Perform administrative requirements such as
submit to the Director of Food Services as required.
- Coordinate dietary services with other departments
- Ensure that all dietary procedures are followed in
- Develop and maintain a good working rapport with
departments within the facility, ! to assure that food
service can be properly maintained to ! meet the needs
of the residents.
- Report all occupational exposures to blood, body
to the Director of Food Services.
- Attend and participate in workshops, seminars, etc.
- Attend and participate in annual inservice training
- Prepare meals in accordance with planned menus.
- Prepare and serve meals that are palatable and
- Assist in serving of meals as necessary, to ensure
- Prepare food for therapeutic diets in accordance
- Prepare food in accordance with standardized recipes
- Prepare food in accordance with sanitary
and procedures.
- Assist in maintaining t! he dietary department in a
- Follow established Infection Control and Universal
daily tasks.
- Ensure that the department is maintained in a clean
and supplies are maintained.
- Ensure that food storage areas and clean and
- Ensure that fire protection and prevention programs
accordance with fire safety policies and procedures.
- Assist in inventorying and storing in-coming food,
- Recommend to the Director of Food Services the
- Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent resident
- Knock before en! tering a residentâs room.

- Must be able to cook a variety of foods in large
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand

government agencies/personnel and the general
public.
- Must be knowledgeable of dietary procedures.
- Must possess leadership ability and willingness to

Education:
- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- One year dietary experience in a hospital, skilled
preferred.
Certification/Licensure:
- ServSafe certified or willingness to obtain.
