Licensed P! ractical Nurse (F ull- T ime )

Who Are We ?: DPD is one of the largest Catholic Charities Agencies providing care for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the United States. We provide care for over 100 adults with diverse disabilities, ethnicities, races and religious beliefs. We operate 9 group homes and 2 supervised apartment programs throughout Morris, Sussex, and Passaic Counties. We provide a vocational day program, The Gruenert Center in Lake Hopatcong, New Jersey, for 52 men and women from our residences and for those living within the community.
Whatâs the role ?: The primary responsibility of the L icensed P ractical N urse is! to work with the registered nurse in the provision of medical! care to the clients of DPD . The LPN will work within the scope of nursing practice and adhere to the Standards of Care for the Practical Nurse. The LPN will work with all members of the health care team to provide consistent safe nursing care by utilizing therapeutic communication techniques, the nursing process, and sound judgment based on knowledge and nursing skills. The nurse will accept responsibility for personal and professional continuing education and demonstrate accountability in nursing practices. Under the supervision of the registered nurse the licensed practical nurse will ensure effective implementation of health promotion and prevention practices, management of acute and chronic illnesses, and attainment of optimal levels of functioning and/or support of the client and significant others. The nurse will cooperate with agency's administration and/or Division and DHS staff in any inspection or investigation.
Experience : Our ideal candidate w! ill have excellent verbal/written communication and problem solving skills, computer literate, compassionate, energetic, team-oriented and committed to serving others. Graduate of an accredited School of Practical Nursing with current license to practice as an LPN in the State of New Jersey . A m inimum of 2 years of experience in a successful nursing practice a nd/ or working with adults with disabilities. Possess and maintain certification as an American Red Cross FA and CPR trainer. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective communication and interpersonal relationships with members of the interdisciplinary team, clients, families, visitors and staff. Previous experience treating people with developmental disabilities is preferred. You m ust have a valid non-probationary driverâs license and drivi ng record in good standing; successfully complete an extensive background check which includes but not limited to, fingerprinting, pre-employment physical/drug ! test, and a motor vehicle check.
Work Schedule : Weeken! ds 8:30AM-4:30PM; 1 Floating Evening Shift ; F lexibility is required to meet the needs of the programs. This position requires travel between the agencyâs main office, group homes , day program center and within the community . This is a non-exempt full time position, generally requiring 40 hours ; flexibility is required to meet the needs of the program and regular attendance of staff meetings
