:
Incorporates knowledge of the nursing process and the professional standards of nursing in daily practice.! Applies knowledge of growth and development to perform detailed assignments/interventions. Provides consistent care based on the changing physical and psychosocial needs, unique to the patient. Manages clinical and non-clinical activities on the nursing unit in absence of unit director. Coordinates all unit activities for the smooth operation in the absence of the unit director
Essential Duties
:
Supports, evaluates, and supervises patient care and unit needs during assigned shift.
Serves as designee for Unit Director in their absence.
Demonstrates timely effective communication skills in daily interaction with team members and others.
Improves job performance of staff by assisting in personal and professional growth through perceptorship.
Provides professional/clinical support for nursing associates.
Evaluates staffing by considering mix, numbers, patient acuity and call-ins for current shift and onco! ming shift.
Communicates with house supervisor to mee! t unit/hospital-wide staffing needs.
Makes patient assignments and delegates unit specific task assignments to ensure patient care and unit needs are met. Monitors completion of unit assignments.
Works with Bed Control for appropriate placement of patients.
Troubleshoots issues which arise that require an immediate resolution and keeps Unit Directors informed of circumstances.
Performs related duties as required.
Qualifications
Education
:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
BSN preferred, but not required.
Experience
:
A minimum of six months clinical experience required.
License/Certification
:
Active RN license required.
BLS required.
ACLS required on telemetry units within 12 months.
