Job Description:
U.S Renal Care is searching for a Patient Care Technician (PCT) located at our dialysis facility in Vineland, NJ.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This job requires an individual to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, to include the following:
- Perform at all times under the supervision of a Charge Nurse, or M.D. and within limitations established by law, regulations, or usual practice within the state.
- Use appropriate safety measures including personal protective equipment.
- Clean, disinfect, and rinse dialysis machines according to protocol.
- Prepare machines for hemodialysis treatments.
- Troubleshoot machine alarms as appropriate
- Report machine problems to mechanical technician.
- Remove disposables and clean station after each treatment.
- Familiar with all emergency equipment and all emergency operational procedures.
- Obtain pre and post treatment weights of patients per protocols.
- Initiate safely and terminate dialysis treatments per center protocol.
- Monitor patients during dialysis treatments.
- Mix acids and bicarbonate according to protocol.
- Report any significant information or change in patient condition to the Charge Nurse.
- Responsible for accurate documentation of information related to patient treatment.
- Information is documented by the Patient Care Technician in the appropriate patient record.
- Stock hemodialysis carts and helps maintain supply room.
- Capable of verifying visual and audio alarms on machines.
- Complete water testing on dialysis machine at the beginning of each treatment day and as directed by the Administrator completing quality control logs and throughout the day, as well as after all treatments completed, and document same as required.
- Take vital signs per protocol during patient treatment and document on treatment record as required.
- Obtain blood samples for laboratory analysis as required to complete physician orders.
- May reinforce patient education as needed under the direction of the Charge Nurse or Administrator.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
An individual must meet all qualifications and requirements below:
High school graduate or equivalent
Confirmation of the ability to distinguish all primary colors
Successful completion of a training course in the theory and practice of hemodialysis.
Maintain current CPR certification
Prefer a minimum of 3 months in dialysis healthcare or phlebotomy experience or CNA experience.
Demonstrate a working knowledge of the English language and be able to communicate verbally and in writing.
Must be able to organize time and tasks well.
Complete the training requirements per CMS / state regulations
Must meet certification requirements as mandated by Federal Conditions of Coverage and state regulations.
