The individual in this role is accountable for planning, supervising and coordinating all patient care activities on a daily basis assuming respo! nsibility for safe and effective delivery of patient care. The Director of Nursing provides clinical oversight and leadership to licensed and unlicensed assistive staff by providing direction, delegation of appropriate tasks, and monitoring of compliance to policies and procedures that are consistent with the State, Federal and company guidelines.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides clinical management and direction over dialysis services to patients by providing leadership to staff to assure safe and effective care.
Supervises staff and monitors the delivery of services to patients ensuring compliance to all aspects of patient care in accordance with company policy and procedures.
Insures adequate visual monitoring of patients by nursing and patient care staff during treatment to assure delivery of safe and efficient quality care.
Provides oversight and direction to home therapy patient care staff and patients to assure deliver! y of safe and efficient quality care.
Coordinates, su! pervises, monitors, delegates and documents all aspects of patient care utilizing accurate QCS documentation and reporting. Conducts all documentation and reporting in a timely and efficient manner.
Completes or oversees patient and staff schedule to maintain optimum staff to patient ratios in accordance with clinical census, operational goals and regulations set forth by state and federal agencies.
Prepares patient care assignments based on patient needs and acuity.
Executes and implements protocols and quality initiatives to improve clinical and patient outcomes.
Demonstrates competent knowledge of State and Federal ESRD regulations and center clinical, administrative, financial and quality policy and procedures.
Supports, understands and implements the philosophy, mission and policies of the center.
Responsible for implementation of quality assessment and improvement activities making recommendations based upon clinic! al and patient outcomes and participates on committees, task force, and work groups on a voluntary and appointed basis.
Responsible for Personnel management e.g. input regarding hiring, termination, evaluations, disciplinary process and reporting within company guidelines.
Develops and maintains effective communication and effective working relationships with staff, physicians, patients and home office personnel.
Demonstrates competencies in all facilities policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all clinical and technical issues.
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assures appropriate documentation of nursing process, admission assessment, POC and monthly documentation is complete and that patientâs medical records are maintained in accordance with company policy and regulatory agencies.
Schedules center audits including CQI, medical records, fire & safety and emergency preparedness and delegates to appropriate per! sonnel.
Serves as member of CQI Committee and Center Governing! body
Acts as or may delegate functional roles such as Medication management, Anemia Manager, Access Manager, Transplant Manager, Case Manager, Foot check or other role.
Oversees reporting including: FDSO8, QCS and QMS databases, census, Epogen log, and quality reporting.
Assures accuracy and reporting of Network activities
Review treatment log, medication and treatment audit and medication discrepancy reports to assure accuracy.
Assists with Medical Director rounds
Coordinates participation on committees, task forces, and work groups on a voluntary and appointed basis.
Ensures opening and closing procedures are performed including verification of required water testing each patient shift.
Oversees reviews of all lab reports and communicates changes to appropriate discipline; uses protocols to make appropriate medication changes.
Oversees/ delegates completion of daily run/flow sheet rev! iew on all treatments.
Oversees/delegates home medication reviews on all patients.
Demonstrates appropriate emergency response following established protocols and completes all documentation in accordance with company policy.
Enforces all HIPPA compliance policies.
Oversees patient assessments and assists with family learning needs formulating a patient teaching plan.
Active role in RV Difference and orienting new employees to RV Difference culture
Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have current and valid! State professional nursing licensure.
Minimum of 2 years of f! ull-time experience in ESRD.
Associates Degree in Nursing required, Bachelors Degree in Nursing preferred, along with certification in specialty area.
Previous experience in a Charge Nurse or other Management role preferred.
Must have demonstrated record of and commitment to safety; and dedication to excellence.
Must possess outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to communicate professionally and effectively with other staff members, patients and physicians.
Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
Basic knowledge of computers, Word Processing software and database.
Previous experience in management preferred.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color differentiation, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk and talk, hear and smell. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. He/she is occasionally required to ! sit; stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, or crawl.
