Location: Voorhees New Jersey

Assist with quality of life for our residents. Plan and implement wing activity programs. Assist and evaluate large group activities. Complete all documentation,! state, federal and departmentally required. Meet the needs of our residents by adaptation to programs. Oversee trips and/or events assigned. Assist with feeding of residents. Knowledge and ability to document episodic events, as well as care plan meetings. Work interdisciplinary with other departments and improve self-esteem for residents. Provide on-going activities either in group or independently. Offer educational, spiritual, exercise, mental and other forms of activities for the residents benefit. Follow Care Plan.

Qualifications

Completes RO Board and dry erase board with daily activities. Delivers newspapers, packages, mail and email to residents in a timelymanner. Hangs calendars on units and in other areas per Directors request. Assist with feeding residents when in programs or when requested by the Director of Activities, Director of Nursing or other management staff inthe dining room or other areas. Maintains program supplies and work area in a! neat and orderly fashion. Reports any broken equipment as soo! n as found to Director ofActivities, as well as need for other equipment needing to be purchased. Provides 1 to 1 activities for residents who stay in own room bychoice or due to health reasons. Purchases supplies needed for programs and using a tax exempt form allthe time. Approval of purchase must be obtained by Director of Activities unless otherwise approved. Plans, develops and implements programs on units. Assist with large programs and functions. Encourage resident participation in group and individual activities including (but not limited to) arts and crafts, outings, religious services, intellectual/educational activities, community service, recreational, etc. Prepares all supplies in readiness for activities as needeed. Assists with organizing and supervision of volunteers. Assist with planning and implement outings. Serves refreshments when required using dietary lists to insure proper diets to residents.. May need to assist in Safe Haven (our Dementia Program) w! hen need occurs. Adapts activities and programs as needed (ex: someonevisuallyimpaired wouldget an enlarged bingo card.) If required, take turns caring for any animal that becomes a Lions Gate pet based on the state requirement of pet therapy. This includes, but not limited to, feeding the animal, providing fresh water, cleaning litter box or walking animal. Has or acquires knowledge of theaging process and medical conditions that pertain to it and familiar withcommon medical abbreviations. Performs themed activities such as Jewish holidays or federal holidays. Keep postings in residents rooms such as activity calendars, specialevents and others. Complete all documentation in a timely manner. (State, federal &departmental required; (example, MDS, initial assessments. Actively participates in CarePlan meetings as an interdisciplinary team member. Written documentation of episodicnotes on residents care, achievements, decline or other information that ispertinent to a residen! ts care and interdisciplinary communication. Escort residents to and fr! om areas that Activities are taking place. Provide activity interventions onCare Plan goals. Perform other related duties directed by supervisor in a cooperative manner.

Language Skills:
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Qualifications:
A degree in recreational therapy or related field from an accredited college or university preferred. Minimum one year experience in therapeutic recreation/activities in geriatric environment or working in a similar capacity with the elderly. Must be able to follow written and oral instruction in English. Must be an excellent communicator.
